Talk openly
I’ll listen without judgement.
Agree the focus
We’ll discuss what you want help with.
Choose what to share
You don’t have to tell everything at once.
MAKING SENSE OF YOUR EXPERIENCE
Difficult experiences
can remain present
in many ways.
After a frightening, overwhelming or deeply painful experience, you may notice anxiety, numbness, shame, intrusive memories, difficulty trusting, strong reactions or a sense of being disconnected from yourself. Trauma can also arise through repeated experiences rather than one event.
You do not need to have a complete account of what happened before asking a question. We can begin with what feels manageable for you.
WORKING TOGETHER
How therapy may help.
Therapy can help you understand how past experiences affect you now and explore ways to manage distress in daily life. We’ll agree what to focus on together.
We can take time to discuss what you need from counselling and whether my experience and approach are a suitable match.
Safety and choice
come first.
You will not be expected to tell the whole story immediately or revisit details before you are ready. We can begin with what is happening now and work at a pace that respects your sense of safety, control and choice.

A THOUGHTFUL FIRST STEP
Finding the right support.
Some people need specialist care or support from several professionals. Before we begin, we’ll discuss whether my experience and approach are right for you. If another service would better meet your needs, I’ll recommend that.

Do I have to talk about everything straight away?
No. You decide what you share. You will not be expected to tell the whole story immediately or revisit details before you feel ready. We can begin with what feels manageable and agree the pace together.
Can we begin with what is happening now?
Yes. We can start with how you are feeling now, what is affecting everyday life and the support you need. You do not need a complete account of the past before asking a question.
How will we decide if this support is suitable?
Before we begin, we’ll discuss whether my experience and approach are right for you. If another service would better meet your needs, I’ll recommend that.
