Welcome, and thank you for visiting Merton Counselling. My name is Marie Merton, and I am a qualified psychotherapist, having trained at the renowned Tivoli Institute in Dún Laoghaire, where I earned my diploma in Humanistic Integrative Psychotherapy.
My formal training is rooted in a Humanistic and Integrative approach, which means I tailor therapeutic models and techniques to meet the unique needs of each individual. I firmly believe that no two people are the same, and my practice reflects this, offering a flexible and personalised path toward healing and growth.
In addition to my formal qualifications, I bring several years of experience working in the area of suicide prevention and crisis support. This has deepened my understanding of complex emotional struggles and strengthened my commitment to providing a safe, compassionate, and non-judgemental space for my clients.
I also incorporate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) into my practice, particularly when addressing issues such as anxiety, phobias, and depression. CBT provides practical tools and techniques that complement the deeper work of psychotherapy, helping clients to manage immediate challenges while working toward long-term transformation.
I am passionate about creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where every individual feels valued and respected. My practice embraces diversity, and I am committed to working with clients from all walks of life with kindness, empathy, and genuine care.
Whatever challenges you are facing, I am here to support you. Together, we can explore the difficulties you’re experiencing and work toward uncovering the strengths and solutions within you. I invite you to take that first step and reach out – your journey to self-discovery and healing starts here.
